Facilities Decommissioning Task Force

Accomplishments:

• Completed Phase-I of the Decommissioning Guidelines, the first such guidelines in the region, with the directives endorsed by the Department of Mineral Fuels. They include recommendations for legal framework, technical requirements, as well as financial and environmental guidelines. In addition, the TF demonstrated an excellent example of working systematically and collaboratively with the government sector in developing a sound and practical regulation.
• Developed the scope for Phase-II of the Decommissioning Guidelines which will include detailed guidelines on Rig-to-Reef, and Decommissioning Environmental Assessment. The project is targeted to be completed in 2010.
