Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene Task Force

Accomplishments:

• Completed the Code of Practice on Integrated Health Management System (IHMS), which provides guidelines for the industry to systematically manage its activities on occupational health issues. The objective of this code is to enhance and elevate management standards on occupational health in the petroleum and petrochemical industry by publicizing best practices and guidelines used in the industry.
• Conducted a public seminar on September 3, 2010 to promote the code at the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand’s auditorium, Map Ta Phut. The seminar was very successful, with over 80 participants from the industry, government sector and academics.
• Held Health Risk Assessment workshops in March and October 2010 to promote and exchange expertise on health risk assessment and prepare for the health impact assessment requirements.

• Plan for the training course on HRA facilitator or train the trainer for member. The course objeective is to give participants who involve in health management area. Now, PTIT and team are dealing and working with the experts for initative in detail of the course.
• Create the guideline of the health management program (11 programs) in CoP on IHMS and planed toorganize the seminar for the guideline.
• Collaborative with Rayong Provincial Public Health Office, Community Friends and the Federation of Thai Industries by Petrochemical Industry Club under Rayong Cohort Task Force to collect and analyze data from the health of employees in the industries and public in the pollution control area for health database. The data will be further analyzed to see correlation with environmental data, and to seek environmental mitigation that intended to be a sustainable cooperation between industry and the public.
