PTIT Study on "Thailand Oil Distribution" for Department of Energy Business (DOEB), Ministry of Energy is featured in the Department's annual report. PTIT's Thailand Oil Distribution Study proposes extension of existing oil products pipeline network to the North and Northeast, which will benefit all stakeholders and the country.

These naturally occurring resources occur globally in significant volumes; however, they are not proven reserves in many cases. Currently, the exploitation of these resources is emerging. As the extraction technology is developed and proven successful and energy prices increase, these resources will be increasingly exploited. | Download articleWith its role to support industry and related parties to solve the problems at Map Ta Phut, PTIT is taking an initiative to conduct a situational assessment exercise in order to gauge the level of the various problems faced by the communities in Map Ta Phut area as well as to try to identify the needs of the communities, with the aim of providing additional viewpoints to all parties to help solve the problems. The objective of this exercise is to prioritize the problems and needs from the view point of the community, and to be able to map out these problems according to locations to understand their relationships. The exercise was completed in August, and its findings are reported in PTIT FOCUS - September 2010 issue.

| Download articleOn 4 June 2010, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) has awarded the Petroleum Institute of Thailand (PTIT) for its initiative in the development of guidelines in conducting environmental impact assessment for oil and gas exploration and production activities in Thailand. The initiative was undertaken as a joint effort by experts from the Office of Natural Resources and Policy and Planning (ONEP) and expert panel of the industry task force under PTIT’s Exploration and Production Standing Committee. These guidelines were developed by adopting best practices in environmental impact assessment and mitigation process as well as lessons learned as the standard procedure for analysis, reporting and evaluation of by project owners, consultants and government agencies with regards to the assessment of environmental impacts of onshore and offshore oil & gas exploration and production projects. In awarding this 2010’s Recognition to PTIT as an agency that contributes to the conservation of Thailand’s natural resources and environment, the Ministry cited PTIT’s initiative as a model of voluntary participatory effort jointly undertaken by both the public and private sector beneficial to the advancement of a sustainable industrial development that co-exists with the preservation of the environment.
