The PTIT believes that Human Resource Development must be carried out systematically across a wide spectrum of both professionally-qualified and non-qualified employees so that no single group develops too far ahead of any others. Only then, will organizations function as effectively as possible at corporate level while also encouraging excellence from individual employees.

Professionally-qualified employees can benefit from the Institute's training courses, technical workshops, seminars, conferences, and international symposia. Those without professional qualifications, including many members of the public, can receive more general information about Thailand's petroleum and petrochemicals industries through various public lectures and television presentations arranged by the PTIT, as well as from the Institute's petroleum industry storybook.

PTIT offers a series of training courses on the Petroleum, Natural Gas, Petrochemical and Feedstocks businesses in response to the need to enhance the human resources capability in the hydrocarbons industry. The courses aim to familiarise newcomers and professionals in the industry with commercial aspects of these dynamic businesses. Focusing on business concepts and industry fundamentals, participants will gain a knowledge and capability to analyze and identify strategic options and alternatives that may introduce new opportunities for their businesses.

PTIT presently offers five courses (click on each link for more information)

  1. Introduction to Petroleum and Petrochemical Business
  2. Understanding the Oil Business
  3. Natural Gas & Businesses in its Value Chain
  4. Understanding the Petrochemical Industry and the Lurking Issues

The purposes of the programme are:
  • To provide an in-depth study of the global energy business and to understand the salient forces and transient factors in play
  • To provide a prestigious means, endorsed by the Council of Trustees, of building up a larger pool of competent personnel to satisfy the country's needs in the petroleum and petrochemicals industry – Human Resources Development

  • To be accessible to all sectors - private and governmental, entrepreneurial and academic sectors

Courses are run in series to maximise understanding of the hydrocarbons business value chain, starting with the course entitled "Introduction to Petroleum and Petrochemical Business". However, enrolment on the next course is flexible and participants are not required to complete the whole series within a specific period.

In addition to the five courses, the PTIT also arranges ad hoc instruction given by invited industry professionals and PTIT members.

Who should attend ?

The courses can cater to a wide range of needs from those requiring only a basic understanding of the petroleum and petrochemical businesses to those wanting a more in-depth knowledge. They are suitable for personnel in all sectors of the petroleum and petrochemicals industry who seek a better understanding of the industry in which they operate.

Participants may be new entrants, economists, commercial and marketing staff, R&D personnel, engineers, administrators or lawyers.
